What accommodation do you offer?
Camping only — we don't offer chalets or cabins, so you'll need your own tent, caravan or motorhome. Electrified, level sites are available throughout the park.
How do we book?
- Book online with card, Instant EFT, Zapper or SnapScan via our secure booking portal.
- Submit a booking enquiry and we'll generate one for you.
- Email your request to bookings@yellows.co.za.
- WhatsApp us on 061 514 6046 — messages only, please don't call this number.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, always. Bookings confirm availability (we do reach full occupancy at times), lock in your rate, register you for gate access, and speed up check-in. Settle your account in full before arrival and you can skip reception for self check-in (high season excluded).
Can we book a specific site?
Not in low season — and this catches a lot of people out. In low season and over Easter, sites are allocated on arrival. Your booking guarantees you a site, not a particular one.
In high season, stays of 20 nights or longer may request a specific site, in a set order of priority. See Site Allocation for the full detail.
What's the high season booking procedure?
Bookings of 20 nights or longer open from 1 January.
Shorter stays open from 1 June, and are subject to availability and to the minimum-stay dates that apply over the festive period. Please don't send these enquiries before 1 June, as you'll be asked to resend them.
How does the monthly rate work?
A "monthly rate" means 30 consecutive nights from your arrival date — it doesn't follow the calendar month. Check in on 1 July and your departure date is 31 July.
Your departure date is the day you leave. If you'd like to book another consecutive month, using that example, the next month begins on 31 July.
Is it safe? What security do you have?
Security is one of the main reasons people choose us. Yellow Sands has its own in-house security division, Black Scorpion Protection Services, fully registered with PSIRA. Our entire management team is PSIRA trained and certified, with decades of experience between them.
There are security personnel on site 24/7, and access to the resort is controlled — which is also why parents are comfortable letting children ride their bicycles around the park.
What's your pet and dog policy?
Our aim is to stay pet-friendly without a blanket ban, so a few rules keep it workable for everyone.
- Small dogs only, low season only, by prior arrangement. Strictly no cats. Pet birds are welcome provided their noise doesn't disturb other guests.
- Dogs must stay within your site, and be leashed at all times when outside it.
- Clean up immediately using a poop scoop, and please prevent pets urinating on other campers' sites or equipment.
- Dogs are strictly prohibited from the swimming pool area and the ablution facilities.
- Please keep pets quiet so they don't disturb other guests.
- Pets found chasing wildlife will lead to immediate expulsion from the park.
- All dogs must wear a collar with your contact details — unattended dogs without one risk being sent to the SPCA.
- Owners assume full liability for their pets and indemnify the park against any damages or claims.
If rules are broken: a charge of R50 per day applies for any breach. Repeated breaches mean being asked to leave with no refund. For park home owners, repeated breaches result in a permanent daily pet fee added to the account.
Can you help us set up our tent?
Yes. Our team offers tent set-up assistance during office hours for a small fee. It's popular with guests arriving late, travelling on their own, or pitching a big rig for the first time. Arrange it at reception.
Is there Wi-Fi and mobile signal?
Yes — we have complimentary Wi-Fi hotspots around the resort, and we're rolling out more. For mobile data, MTN and Vodacom give the most reliable coverage in this area.
Is the water safe to drink?
Yes. Our water comes from our own borehole, is laboratory tested, and is safe to use and drink throughout the resort — it's slightly brak, which some people notice in the taste.
If you'd prefer something neutral, there's a complimentary filtered and UV-treated rainwater station outside reception. Bring your own containers and help yourself. It's free, and it's become one of the most popular additions we've made.
Who supplies your electricity and water?
All services here are managed by the resort itself. Electricity is supplied directly by Eskom and reticulated across the park by our own team. Water comes from our own borehole and is laboratory tested for peace of mind. Running it ourselves means we set our own standards and fix things on our own timeline.
Do you have a swimming pool?
Yes — a generous resort pool with lawn on all sides and fountain jets. It won a Silver Award at the 2018 National Spa & Pool Institute of South Africa annual pool awards, in the semi-public and public pools category.
Is there a shop and a restaurant on site?
Both. Yellow's Bru Bistro & Bar is fully licensed and serves breakfast, burgers, wood-fired pizza, proper coffee, craft beer on tap and cocktails.
The resort shop is well stocked year-round — groceries, fresh fruit and veg, bread and milk, charcoal and briquettes, firelighters, matches and lighters, ice, camping gear, chargers and batteries, basic medication, toiletries, sweets, ice creams and cool drinks. We also run prepaid airtime, data and money transfers.
Beer, wine and spirits are served at the bistro. Braai wood is sold at reception.
Do you have a laundry service?
Yes — a hand-in laundry service from the same facility as the shop. Wash only, dry only, or wash and dry. Drop it off and collect it done; ask at the shop counter for current pricing.
Over the December peak season we also run a dish-washing service.
What is there for seniors?
Quite a lot, and it's one of the things we're proudest of. From 1 February to 31 October we run a senior camping season with events, specials, socials and activities — it's become a genuine community, and many of our monthly campers return year after year.
Senior rates apply from age 60, between 1 February and 31 October. See Rates for daily and monthly pricing.
Do you offer a pensioners' discount?
Yes — our senior rate applies from age 60, and there are monthly rates too.
Senior rates run from 1 February to 31 October only. From 1 November through to 31 January, guests 60 and over are charged at the standard adult rate. See Rates for the figures.
Do you hire out caravans?
We don't, but WhatsApp us on 061 514 6046 and we'll happily point you toward people who do.
Do you offer permanent camp sites?
No. Our monthly rate for seniors runs month-to-month within set periods of the year, subject to availability — it isn't a permanent stay.
Is there a braai at the site?
Most sites have a half-drum braai with a grid. If yours doesn't, tell reception during office hours and we'll bring one out — at no charge in low and mid season.
Over the December festive season a hire charge applies, and there are a few options to choose from. Our team will go through them with you as part of your booking.
You're welcome to bring your own braai instead.
Where do we get firewood and charcoal?
Braai wood is sold at reception — currently R70 a bag, subject to change.
Charcoal, briquettes, firelighters, matches and lighters are all available from the shop.
What time can we arrive and when do we have to leave?
Arrival from 12:00 and departure by 10:00 are what we aim for, and we ask you to arrive within reception hours.
In practice we're relaxed about it in low season. Where we do need to hold to those times is when someone is arriving onto your site the same day — which happens over December, and occasionally mid season when the park is full.
What if we arrive after reception closes?
If you know in advance, contact reception during office hours and we'll tell you exactly what to do.
If something changes on the road, call our after-hours line on 064 805 9740. It's the same number for any emergency during your stay.
How does gate access work?
The entrance gate opens with a PIN. We send yours by WhatsApp to the mobile number on your booking, before you arrive and during office hours — PINs are generated between booking and arrival, so don't worry if it isn't immediate.
At the gate, start with the # key: a PIN of 1234 is entered as #1234. The exit gate opens automatically as you drive out.
Your PIN is issued once your deposit reaches us, and runs to your departure date. If you extend your stay, let us know so we can extend your access.
Can we skip reception and go straight to our site?
Yes, outside high season, if your account is settled in full and you've booked at least a day or two ahead — that gives our team time to register you for gate access before you travel.
How big are the sites?
Around 10m x 10m on average, though they vary in both size and shape — some are larger, some smaller.
In low season we can almost always find a spot for even the largest rigs. For December it's worth telling us your setup size when you enquire, since sites are allocated in advance over that period.
How many people can stay on one site?
In high season, up to six. A seventh or eighth person is charged at R250 per person per night and needs to be arranged with reservations first — we'll usually suggest a second site, though it depends who's in the party.
In low season there's no set limit, since sites are chosen on arrival.
Can we bring more than one vehicle?
One vehicle per site is included. Additional vehicles are R50 each.
They park at reception, in a common area, or on your own site if there's room without encroaching on your neighbours.
Can friends or family visit us while we're camping?
Yes. Visitors to campers are welcome at R100 per adult, R50 per child and R50 per senior, payable at reception on arrival and during office hours.
We don't take general day visitors, and over the festive season visitors need to be arranged in advance. Please make sure anyone visiting you knows the resort rules — as our guest, they're your responsibility.
Can we bring a boat?
You can, at no extra charge. Launching is down at the River Camp, and it's worth knowing this isn't an official launch site and isn't open to the public.
Vehicles can't go beyond a certain point, so small boats are hand-wheeled down. It's far easier at high tide — spring high if you can time it.
Can we fish?
Yes — fishing off the rocks is a favourite here.
A valid recreational permit is your own responsibility. They can be bought online from the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment.
Can we run a generator?
No — generators aren't permitted anywhere in the park. On a campsite this close together, one generator is heard by a great many people.
Every site is electrified and electricity is included in your camping fee. If you want a backup, solar is the way to go.
What are the rules about noise and music?
We ask that music is kept soft and neighbourly, and wound down by around 22:00.
That's a guideline rather than a stopwatch — we apply common sense. But if something is loud enough to disturb the people around you, our security team will step in.
What happens if we need to cancel?
All cancellations must be in writing to bookings@yellows.co.za.
Low season: cancelling 7 days or less before a long weekend or school holiday booking is refunded less 50% of the deposit. Other periods are refunded less a R100 administration fee. You can also reschedule, subject to availability, or take a gift voucher instead.
High season: cancel before 31 October and your deposit is refunded less a 10% administration fee, minimum R500. After 31 October the deposit is forfeited.
The full detail is in our terms and conditions.
